Right to privacy, marriage and family life

21. Joint submission 2 (JS2) [ILGA, ILGA-Europe, Pan Africa ILGA, IGLHRC, and ARC International] indicated that Eritrea maintains criminal sanctions against sexual activity between consenting adults of the same sex and recommended that Eritrea bring its legislation into conformity with its international human rights obligations by repealing all provisions which criminalise sexual activity between consenting adults of the same sex.

V. Conclusions and/or recommendations
Eritrea noted the following recommendations:

79.34. Repeal all legislative provisions which criminalize sexual activity between consenting adults of the same sex (Canada);

79.35. Bring its penal code into conformity with its international human rights obligations by repealing those provisions which criminalize same-sex activity between consenting adults (United States).
